Posterior Cervical fusion (PCF) surgery involves removing bone to decompress the spine. The removal of this bone relieves stenosis(narrowing of the foramen) to open the central and lateral foramen, allowing the relief of the spinal cord and the lateral nerve roots. After the decompression, lateral mass screws are placed with rods and set screws to fixate the spine.
